We Be Big

We Be Big
The Mostly True Story
of How two kids from
Calhoun County, Alabama, Became
Rick & Bubba
Rick Burgess Bill “Bubba” Bussey
with Don Keith
I absolutely LOVED this book. The way Rick and Bubba wrote this book was fabulous! At the beginning of each chapter, the authors introduced the chapter in a way that the reader was able to easily determine who was talking. They kept the material flowing in a way that it was very enjoyable to read. Many times, it really was much like listening to one of their radio broadcasts.

The story of how these two came to be partners is a very enjoyable read. Bubba's dedication to his faith and Rick's personal struggles with his faith (which struck a very strong chord with my own walk throughout my own life) are very encouraging and inspiring! The way that God seems to keep leading these two men in the same general direction is fascinating!

Even in the face of dire adversity, these two men and their extended families have stepped up and continued on in the walk that the Lord has called them to! My hat is off to all of them! (...And, Rick, for what it's worth, I believe you were absolutely 1000% correct when you made the declaration that "Satan made a HUGE mistake attacking my family").

Thank you Rick, Sherri, Bubba, Betty, Don Keith, BookSneeze, etal for making it possible for me to have had the opportunity to have read this excellent book!

I had heard this book entitled, "The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven" from Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., being promoted on the local Christian radio station one day, and was very moved by the related story. It is the story of a young man, Alex Malarkey, from Central Ohio who was nearly killed in an automobile crash, and the roller coaster-like journey he and his family have traveled since that day.

I am soon-to-be 50, and have never found the time, interest, or energy for that matter, to read any kind of books. My wife, on the other hand, has always been an avid reader, so I told her about the book thinking that she might be interested. When asked by our son and daughter-in-law what she would like for Christmas, she told them she would like this book, and they bought it for her.

After she read it, she suggested that I try a couple of chapters. After about a week of gentle encouragement from her, I begrudgingly opened the book and began to read. WOW!!! I found myself unable to put this book down! I read this book cover-to-cover (including the Acknowledgments and Introduction, which I had NEVER done) in 5 days!

I could not wait to get through the day and set by the bed at the end of the evening and read some more of the incredible story of how God has worked in the lives of this family. There is no doubt that this family is deeply and richly blessed by God on a daily basis, and I found myself being inspired by their story, as well. The last time that I read a complete book, I was a Freshman in high school, and was FORCED to read it for a Literature class.

This book has been able to ignite a fire inside of me that no other book has. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Thank you to my Son and Daughter-in-law, The Malarkeys, and Tyndale House Publishers for this gift you have each given me!

Howdy folks, here we go!!

O.K., here's the deal...I have NO EARTHLY IDEA what I am doing! The other day, my son told me, "Hey, Dad, you should start a Blog and join "Blogging for Books".

I replied, “WOW, that really wounds like a 'WILD IDEA'! Why would I want to do something like that, and more-so, why would ANYBODY want to read what I have to say?" But, he convinced me to give it a shot...so here we go.

Please fasten your seat belts, make certain that your lap trays and tables are in their upright and locked positions, put your armrests down, and...ummm, oh yeah..."HEY Y'ALL, WATCH THIS??????????????????"
